Post 10: English Language Challenges

Hello everyone, today I will talk about my experience with the English Language.

I have always liked the possibility of continuing to study English, either in the university or in other courses, since I find that learning another language is extremely important for our training as students and integral people.

In my opinion, writing blogs gives us more knowledge to be able to form sentences in English with coherence, and using the words in the correct verb tenses. Besides, writing blogs gives us the possibility of acquiring experience to be able to communicate with other people who do not speak our language.

Regarding my experience people, I think what I need to improve is the ability to speak and form sentences in English in front of other people, because I usually go blank when I must speak in another language. I also think that I need to put well the verb tenses of the words I use in sentences, since sometimes I forget and tend to get confused

I do not usually use this language much in Chile, only to be able to read papers that are used for university work or to translate songs when I want to know what they are about.

But when I travel to see my grandparents in the United States, it is when I have more practice in writing and speaking in English, since I must be the official translator of my family, especially when we do tourism or travel to places where we do not accompany our our relatives who speak English perfectly.

Post 9: Changes to my study programme

                Hello everyone, today I will talk about all the things that I want to change in my study programme.

I think that we have a lot of workload, too much, even we don’t have time for  other important things, like family, friends, or do some sport, because we need to study every day for pass all the subjects and don’t repeat a year.

I would like to change some subjects like “Infotecnologia” because I think that we don’t need that subject, or rather, we can study for that subject in a different way, because I think that we don’t  put attention in all the classes , or me at least.

I don’t like the classes of some of our teachers, because some of them only read the “Power Point”, they don’t explain the subject, for example a teacher never explain the thing that he do to become to the result of some exercise, he only put the result in the  projector, all we know who is him.

I like the infrastructure of our faculty, I like the color blue and light-blue of all the building hahaha, but I think that we need more “green areas”, we need more trees and plants in our faculty.

Finally, we need more instruments for the practice area of odontology, because when I always used  the kit of the micromotor, contra-angle and handpiece , I choose the kit that had a problem, and I had delayed all my work in the subject of “ Destrezas”.

Post 8: Summer Holidays.

Hello everyone, today I will talk about my next vacation.

I think I really need a moment of relax, because our career is very stressful and requires a lot of dedication, so when we talk about holidays,  the first thing I think is “Rosa Agustina Resort and Conference”, it is a place located in Olmué, with my family we go year after year, because my
my mom and dad love the good food that is cooked there, besides not having to take care of my sisters, because there are workers who take special care of young children, I admire them, because you must have a lot of patience when dealing with children, especially with my sisters, they are terrible.

Another thing I really want to do again is to travel to Serena with my boyfriend, his dad lives there, in an apartment in front of the beach, close to the nightclubs and the casino "Monticello",
then we have everything nearby, we do not need locomotion to reach the busiest places,
but this year I want to know "Valle del Elqui", they say it is a truly beautiful place and that their campsites are great, and I have never camped, so it would be a good opportunity.

This year I will not work, since I want to take advantage of being with my family and friends, also they never give me work, I do not know why: c, but I will take a tango course again, to return to the tracks of the milonga.

Post 6: Someone I would like to meet

Hello everyone, today I will talk about a person who I would like to meet.

At this moment, I want to meet  “Yolandi Visser”, although her true name is Anri Du Toit (a very strange name). She is a singer who is part of a group of rap called “Die Antwoord”, this type of rap it’s called “Zeff Rap” , because they use the language of English and Afrikaans (because they are from Southafrica), and a few times they sing in Spanish. This group of rap is formed by her husband “Ninja”, her, and the DJ who is called “God”.

Although she is not a very good influence, and the lyrics of their songs don’t say good things, I want to meet her because she is very interesting, she is an unusual person, her voice is so high-pitched and the clothes, the hair and everything that it is in relation to her is very strange, even she is 32 years old, she looks like a little child of 12.

She also takes part of a movie called “Chappie” too, in that movie she and her husband are robbers, who steal a police robot called “Chappie” and treat him like a son.

I invite you to watch her videos or concerts on YouTube (She came to Lollapalooza the last year, yes, I saw her haha), It’s a very weird experience.

Post 6: Post Graduate Studies

 Hello everyone, today I will write about my projects in the future.

Although I have not decided on this subject, I want to continue studying after receiving my degree of surgeon-dentist, unfortunately one never knows what may happen in the future, due to events that may occur from one moment to another, but I have in mind to follow a specialty set in facial reconstruction or oral rehabilitation, this is following the specialty of "Surgery and oral traumatology and maxillo facial" or "Implantology Buco maxillo facial".

I have also come to think of being a teacher, as I have written on other blogs, since I am very interested in ​​teaching and besides being aware of all the advances that exist in ​​dentistry, something that can be reached to achieve being a teacher, since they should always continue studying to teach their students the best way, although of course, we should all continue to study to be excellent professionals. One of my dreams is to be able to leave of exchange in undergraduate or postgraduate, since I think that when traveling experiences are increased, besides knowing another culture and its way of treating the patients compared to Chile, I have thought of returning to the United States, but according to what I have heard from other professionals the best option is Brazil in the dental area.

Post 5: My Future Job

I never imagined what type of work I would do in the future, or rather; I have many ideas of jobs that I could do, like working in a laboratory, study for a specialty like maxillofacial surgeon, periodontology, or even being a teacher of histology, anatomy and teach in the universities.

Most of the work of a dentist is indoors, because we need a clean room, instruments and the dental chair, we need to work in an organized room. But I have heard about some dentists who work in strange places, like a boat in Chiloe, I think that it was incredible, because it takes the odontology to places that we have never seen before, and that gives the possibility to travel to other towns or countries, and learn a lot from other dentists or the people who live there and their culture.

I am studying Odontology in the University of Chile, it’s my first year and I love the entire things that we do with the hands, it’s a profession which combines the health and the practice in a perfect way.

I had a bad experience with my dentist, because I used brackets for five years, and I suffered a lot every time that I went for a check, so now it’s my turn muajaja.

Post 4: My favorite TV show

Hello everyone, today I will talk about my favorite TV show.

Right now I don’t have a TV in my apartment, because I know myself, and if I had one, I wouldn’t concentrate in my studies, so I decided not to have a television in my room, but my favorite series in this moment is “Game of Thrones”, because it has a lot of action, medieval fights, fantasy, love, incest and the most important thing, dragons.

The last year all my friends were watching that series, so every day they told me that I really needed to know “Jon Snow”, I didn’t really know what they were talking about, but since I watched that series, I feel completely in love with this character haha.

The series narrates the violent dynastic struggles among the realm's noble families for the Iron Throne, while other families fight for independence from it. The creator of the books on which this series is based says "the true horrors of human history derive not from orcs and Dark Lords, but from ourselves."

My favorite character in this series is Cersei Lannister, the queen of the seven kingdoms; all the people hate her because she is very ambitious and narcissist, but I think that most part of the history goes around her.

Post 3: Election Day

I think that voting is a very important part of our lives, because we are citizens with duties and voice, so definitely I will vote. My family hates politicians, they always tell me that all of them are bad people, that only want to earn more money, but I think that we can make the difference with a vote, anyway, the election day will be on a Sunday, so I can vote in Quillota and travel to Santiago at the night.

I have never liked the electoral campaigns; I think that in the most part of the time politicians are lying, they show us pictures with people with economic problems,  immigrants or children for example, smiling next to them, because they only want more votes.

I think that a person in a public position needs to be altruistic, they have to think in the other persons first, be hardworking, respectful and especially honest, because all the time we see on the news channels politicians who make a scam with a lot of money.

I have  never considered to be involved in politics, because I think that I am not a person with the qualities of a good politician, and I'm a very nervous person when I need to talk in public.

Hello everyone!, today I will talk about a beautiful sports experience. It was when I was studying at the school, every year the "marist schools" organize a female competition in Chile of four kinds of sports, basketball, volleyball, track and the most wonderful sport, rhythmic gymnastics. I competed in rhythmic gymnastic, individually and with a team, my couch was Enrique Hidalgo, a very famous couch in Chile, because he is the only man who trains girls, and it was my last year, because the gymnast are able to compete until they are seventeen years old.

That year, when I was training, I broke my right ankle before the very important competition, everyone said to me that I could not compete, because I was using a cast, but I really wanted to win my last olympic, so I trained so hard without using a leg, and finally, I won using my favorite implement, the ball. It was so exciting, because all the people who come to the presentation cheered my name, the rumour of my ankle got to all the gymnasts of the other schools, in that moment I felt so good and famous,when I received the medal of the first place I cried a lot.

Post 1 " A country I would like to visit"

In the future, I plan to visit India, a beautiful country full of culture and customs very different from ours. I have always been very attracted by the clothes worn by women in this country, full of colors and drawings, as well as the red dot on their forehead, which signifies the energy of the woman or the sign of her marriage.

I desire and plan to know the architecture of the Hindu temples, which are very different from the Latin American ones, as well as try the food from this colorful country, although it will most likely end with stomach pain.

I also want to be able to share with the national animal, in this case the elephant, I have never been very close to an animal as wonderful as this, much less feed him or take a walk on it.

The truth is that I do not think I can be able to live or study in this country, because I am very attached to my family, but always when I could go on vacation.

Drafting

Hello everyone, my name is Francisca Valdes, I've two little sisters, called Antonella and Florencia, and the name of my parent's are Francisco and Claudia.
I'm living in Santiago now, but I came from Quillota, five region, the city of avocados :D. I've 19 years old and I studied in a catholic school called "Instituto Rafael Ariztia", in that school I met my boyfriend, because he were my bestfriend,(He were in the friendzone, yaaas) we have a relationship of two years, and I still in love with him <3 (I don't know how haha) he's Arab, so he like a lot say "Allahu akbar".

I took a gap year, I travelled to New Jersey and I lived with my grandparents, there I decided studied Odontology, but my first choice was Medicine (tipical). Now I love my career, especially all the instruments we use.

In my free time I dance, especially tango and salsa, I dance with my boyfriend (he teach me) and sometimes we go with my mom and dad to colombian discotheques haha.
